not particularly a fan of that one but what about other MMBs (multi-bassed bands)? i think ned's atomic dustbin had 2.

I used to be in a band with another bassist/singer and a drummer. We only lasted like 2 months, but it was a great deal of fun for our 3 gigs. I played distorted chords while he did weird octave riffs. Played out great, but I can see why it didn't last. In my opinion, there's only so much you can do with that set-up.

Toupe, from Southampton UK, is a bit of two-bass genius.

No way I'd play in band with more than one bass. It's hard enough keepin' the freekin' keyboard player out of my range, let alone another bass!

two basses done well is an amazing thing. can get very intense but you've got to sync up very well

I saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor in Glasgow last month and they had two bassists. The low-end bassist played a J bass into a full SVT rig and their high-end bassist played a Stingray into a smalled Ampeg combo ontop of flight cases so that their signals did not blend. It worked quite well but with 3 guitarists, 2 percussionists and a violinist (also going into a full SVT close-miced with an SM58!) and enough guitar pedals to restock your average Guitar Centre it didn't really matter.

I've seen these guys live and it blew my mind. Two drummers, Four bass players and a bunch of synths haha.

Shout Out Out Out Out

They don't always have 4 bass guitars going at once though. Sometimes it's just 2 guys on bass, sometimes 3, sometimes 4.

i have played with two bassists in my band,it was a jam with some mates.
i played my overdriven/distorted mid heavy bass and my friend had his smooth fretless sound. And 3 guitarists people said it was a good full sound unsurprisingly.

My current band has 2 bassists, as the other guy is there only 30% of the time. We make it work with 'the other guy' working the low roots and me working my sound with the mids. I often feel like the viola when playing and have to listen extra hard to what everyone is doing so we don't mud up.
