I was reviewing some stuff today and noticed this, a histological section of smooth muscle.
I had a "WHOA" moment when i realized it looked like a tort guard of a Fender bass !!!
Check it out... |

Just for your edification, nucleic acids, which predominate in the nuclei of cells, typically stain blue (basophillic, or "basic," do to the "H" in the H&E stain, hematoxylin).
Anyways, what do i know... |

This goes to prove that you can learn something new on TB every day,
no matter how esoteric, or mundane and trivial.
I like skirt steak, would that qualify as 'smooth muscle tissue'? "Skirt steak", great phrase, wonder who came up with that one?

You can tell the difference (histologically speaking) between skeletal and smooth because skeletal appears striated, whereas smooth muscle cells are non-striated...smooth, if you will. I can't believe we're having this conversation lol...
Anyways, happy Friday bro! |
