This Musician Thing Has Finally Paid Off...

Sign in to disble this ad
Well 4 years of gigging have gone by and there has not been a sniff of the groupie action promised to me by the rock musician ideal (well except for the underage girls who sat in the front row and stared at me when I was in 6th form...but of course I didn't go there). However, on the 26th of the month of October, I played a gig at Hoko 10, supporting the delightful Lahannya, and a girl was actually attracted to me. I kid ye not, the bass player actually got some attention. At last the dream is realised and playing with my large piece of wood has led to the good kind of attention.

It turns out she actually saw a video of one of my band's performances on the interweb and thought I was quite hot (or something like that). Anyway, she's going out with me now and thus this is how the musician thing has paid off. Although I suppose this sadly means I'm not allowed proper groupies

Yea, and after 4 years of no groopie action, now that you are dating one, you will get more attention from some other groopies. Just because you are tied down. Murphy's Law.

lmao, i'm confused. geordie girls are famed for their easy virtue, although i'd understand if you wanted to avoid getting with a lady who doesn't put down her kebab when she's kissing you...

edit

not casting aspersions on your new mrs, just wondering why the length of no groupie time...

I knew what this was going to be about as soon as I saw the title. Congratulations!

LowinFl is right though. As soon as one girl shows interest in you all the other girls are going to start wondering what they are missing.

Well at least you don't have to play with that large piece of wood anymore.

I've read this three times now and I still have no idea what you are talking about.

I was wondering too; is "put down her kebab" code for something? And what is a geordie girl?

This would turn most sane girls off and maybe even get a call to the police.

When I played in the 70's I found a lot of women who were especially attracted to bass players. Actually amazed me and took me a while to figure out that I was just a one nite stand for some of these bass loving groupies. Enjoy it until you run into one that makes you crazy (in a good way)

HA ha. Good one... sadly... errrr happily I'm married now & my 2 kids are 18 & 19 yrs old!!!!! NOT to a groupie ;-) BUT back when I WAS in 6th form(grade 12 here) I was playing in a band that did top 40 covers as well as our originals & MANY girls were interested & a few got lucky..... IMO ;-) SADLY over time the image of 'groupie' has taken a dive where as in the '70's they were akin to royalty

I've had some good luck with the groupies. It worked out well for me as I was always most entertaining to watch. Sadly I've been tied down for the past 3 years and I've become lazy. The single life is hard.

A geordie is someone who comes from Newcastle in the UK. A lady from Newcastle would be more inclined to stuff her face with dirty kebab meat than anything else. This of course is a stereotype.

Say you start dating this girl. I am pretty sure there are going be waves and waves of babes coming to your show, along with your girlfriend. Murphy's Law, like someone already said.

Sheeesh. I only ever had one groupie. She even carried gear. I married her, of course. That was 30 years ago. She's still my favorite groupie. Even though she rarely comes to shows any more.
