MY 10yo daughters first lesson..

Sign in to disble this ad
One of my 10 yo daughters (I have triplets), has decided she must learn guitar. Oh well, what can one do. Anyway, apart from being a grade 5 classical pianist, she is also a bit of a smartar$e.
So, at her first lesson today the guitar tutor states there are 3 different types of guitars. Can you name any of them?
Yeah, Stratocaster, Telecaster and Les Paul! Aargh!

Because, you know, Ibanez makes computers, not guitars.

The correct answers were acoustic, electric and I can't remeber the third as I was on a fit of laughter! I would have answered P's, J's and L2000's!

Acoustic, Electric, Classical, Bass.

I think her teacher needs to go back to school.

Actually, i would think there were 3 types of any guitar.

Classical, Acoustic (including semi-acoustics/electric acoustics), and Electric.

And 3 types of bass.

Classical (DB), Acoustic (basically semi-acoustics), and Electric.

Maybe its just me.

With that instructor, she'll be shredding in no time.

This is why any good musician father will listen to the teacher's every word, to make sure. Next he'll be giving her tips on how to get the bass player to turn down.

This reminds me of a local music store's (now closed) owner, who once said this gem (in a wonderfully southern accent): "There are two types of gitars (sp) - Gibsons and Fenders!" I had to bite my tongue to keep myself from asking "then why don't you have either one?"

Isn't a classical guitar still a type of acoustic?

1. Steel string acoustic
2. Nylon string acoustic (classical)
3. Electric
