I would think it is. They are both acoustic instruments.

They are constructed a bit differently though. Most classical guitars can't handle the tension of the steel acoustic strings for example. Classicals are usually louder. Classicals have flat fretboards and wide necks. But in the way they perform, and regarding type, I'd say they are both acoustics.

If it were me, I'd say solid body, hollow body. Even electric is not that meaningful nowadays.

Classical and acoustic guitar are not the same instrument despite having a few things in common such as the tuning.

Technique and posture come to mind as two things that are VERY different about playing the two.

Exactly. Even though the classical guitar IS an "acoustic instrument", in that you don't need to plug one in to play it, i wouldn't lump it together with the acoustic guitars, which are so named for their general features, not just the way they produce sound.
