The add was written by my guitarist who founded our newly formed band and has most of the ideas for our sound/songs. Meant to be humorous yet specific and to the point. http://daytona.craigslist.org/muc/2117498908.html

A lot of arrogance and attitude, but no humor.
Good luck with your search. Sometimes it's better to communicate your more specific needs in person and with a tone of respect, and after you've earned the respect and interest of your prospective candidates.

I would delete the second paragraph in its entirety and tone down the third. A lot. |

failed on all three. |

BTW, there were a few typos in the posting:
* "dual guitar roll" -> "dual guitar role"
* "Crunch, and Power!!" -> "Crunch and Power!!"
* "checking you text messages" -> "checking your text messages"
* "Facebook , do not" -> "Facebook, do not"
* "than this is not" -> "then this is not" |

There are ways to get your point across without all the hostility. Your ad needs to contain a certain amount of detail about what genre or styles you're looking for and what tones or guitar sounds your looking for (sounds like the band ______) with out insulting somebodies wife before you even meet your prospective new member.
The gear section is particularly amusing. "No modular amps!" Um ok. An all tube Mesa halfstack is a modular rig so is he planning on using nothing but 10 watt combo amps? I do understand his reservation about effects as a lot of people really don't know how to use them properly, however he may have just limited the potential of what your band can do sonically. A well placed special effect can be incredibly effective in the right context.
As for pointy guitars... did you ever stop to think that maybe that was the players first guitar and they simply can't afford to get another more traditional instrument at this point in time, even if they are employed? Besides an all white Randy Rhodes V with gold hardware is pretty classy looking. I have encountered some incredible musicians that will blow your mind but simply don't have the funds or too many family financial obligations to justify buying a new guitar at that time. Something to consider is all I'm saying.
It's obvious to me that your guitarist has a certain vision in mind but he has effectively eliminated a large number of potential auditions simply because of a negative attitude. I suggest you discuss it with your band, pull this ad, and rewrite it like a professional adult. I think you might even get your first phone call if do. I for one wouldn't call you guys ever, even if I knew you had great material that I really enjoyed.
I hope this helps in some strange way

If you describe what you are looking for instead of what you are NOT looking for it will sound much more welcoming. Just like jlane72t said, I would not reply to that ad.

"If you have a Fender Stratocaster and a Fender Reverb Twin, and don't mind being belittled if I don't agree with what you have to say, then you can play with me."
Put your own ad out looking for another band. |

There were multiple adds on there prior to this and some of the things in this add were because of the responses we got from them. The best results I have gotten finding band mates was just good 'ol word of mouth.
