My foray into bass pedagogy

Sign in to disble this ad
I decided to share some of my experience and wisdom with other bassists, so I made a bass instructional video demonstrating some of my favorite advanced techniques. It's probably exactly what you'd expect from me. Hope you learn a lot from it.

Bahahaha, Certainly different from what I'd imagined the advanced techniques would be, but utterly hillarious. I particularly liked the first one.

Well, they're not advanced techniques for bassists who need to play lots of notes. They're advanced techniques for bassists who need to compete for attention with attractive female singers who have flowers glued to their faces.

Phalex's would be great (though probably NSFW), but what I really want to see is DeluxeRed's. He could call it "Advanced Techniques For Looking So Awesome You Get Other Bassists Fired From Their Bands".

Absolutely!

My biggest tricks are just playing over the top of the fretboard on boring songs, and beating the ever lovin crap out of the body to make the strings rattle.

The bottle opener mounted to the back of my bass makes for some good shtick at the right gig........

I'm working on it. (Kinda busy day at work at the moment, but I do have my bass with me today!)

Here we go! The big paint chip was there when I bought the bass. It made me feel a lot better about drilling screw holes for a bottle opener.

It works like a champ!

Very cool. When you use it at a gig, how many people seem to notice?

No one notices unless the drummer approaches from behind with a couple of full beers. I always make a face like I'm pulling the caps off with my hams.

It's actually quite handy at band practice. (There's always ber at band practice.)

Ah, so we're back to the eternal problem of the bassist. No one notices! I think you'll need some advanced bottle-opening techniques to attract more audience attention.

You could glue a flower to 'something else,' if you know what I mean. That could draw attention for sure!

nice video! now you just need to put a boot up the butts of your bandmates to get them to move around a little.

at that point, you could move up to the next level:
