My gig story from Yesterday

After a 2 hour setup (no supplied PA or lights, all ours), we do a 2 song sound check.

Our PA is two 300 watt Yorkville cabs, the guitarist has a Marshall half stack, the drums kick and snare/high hat are miked, and I have a pre-power 810 rig on a rather low level because the club is not very big, maybee 80 people sitting.

The police came to warn us, after those 2 songs, about beeing too loud. The club owner coulden't understand.

So we do the gig. The place is almost packed. All seats are taken, and a lot of people are standing (I love those kind of turnouts for small clubs). In the middle of the second set, on one of the clubs big screen TV's (the one basically only the band sees from stage, as everyone else should have their backs to if they're looking at us at all), there is soft porn beeing played on screen. Talk about strange choice of selection.

At the middle of the 3rd set, the police come back, and warn the club owner again. The owner talks to them, comes (owner) to see us and tells us to pretend to adjust our equipment, and finish the gig the same way we'd been doing it from song 1.

The only thing is that he he told us that he would make the money more interesting if the turnout was good, yet not a $ more than the agrreed price. And no bar tab, etc.... It's OK, he honoured the agreement, I just don't know why he mentioned the good turnout. He asked us back, so I assume he was satisfied. We'll be in touch with him after x-mas.

Sounds like a cool club owner...did anyone in the audience or friends say it was loud?

Did the police come back after the faux turn down? What was the venue?

Nobody in the audience said it was loud. We had good comments on sound and lighting. The police did not come back. It was at café Intervallo, in ville LaSalle.
