Without roasting my girl to hell and back I thought this was hilarious and really highlighted how easily it is to think less of someone because of taste in music .....just kiddin...........i think lol
So my girlfriend calls me up and shes harping on about Prodigy when she catches me off guard and says I also found this amazing song called "Tom Sawyer".......
So im thinking this cant be happening lol I dont wanna come across as a total douche we have been together for 5 years its all fun and games but theres only so much crappy music (imo) that you can take at once.
I had to rush of the phone so we didnt finish the convo but later found this in my inbox: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdSss2huH54
Needless to say I instantly threw up in my hands. I replied sending a link to Rush playing it in Rio I think.
Her opinion: Utter crap.
Pointless little story I know but thought it was funny.

Luckily my girlfriend loves Rush and most of the music I like, although the first thing she always does is pick the most popular song by any band I have on my computer/ipod. Slightly annoying, but I'd probably tell her to leave if she preferred that Tom Sawyer cover over the original.
I'm going to go watch Rush in Rio now to make up for it. |

I seriously broke up with a girl just because she told me she thought Megadeth sucked. |

it's not like the jonas brothers, who get their songs handed to them and are part of a marketing machine, the prodigy are a hard working band
I agree about MSI though

| | I'm a tumbler, born under punches | | Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Northern California | | | My closest female friend (who I've known since junior high) seemed really offended when I stopped seeing a friend of hers after a couple dates citing her (IMO) terrible taste in movies/books/music as a main reason.
She thought I was being incredibly shallow when I think the reality is that these things not only matter to me, but IMO are a very clear indicator of whether or not two people have enough in common to get along.
I'm not saying a couple has to like all the same things, but there has to be some common ground. And the stuff she liked was just a huge red flag. Having run into this woman a number of times since, I'm convinced I just saved the two of us a month or more of additional dates that would have just led to a worse breakup anyway. |

MSI is such a fun band live and Jimmy Urine's vocals are all over the charts.
You can't ever compare it to Rush: it's like comparing apples to Raisin Bran.
I'm pretty much expecting to get flamed for this, so I'm now subscribed. =)
