My new J just got cut in half

Sign in to disble this ad

Cant believe this just happend.
So i travell with my basses every day , train , busses , taxis. I always keep it in my Fender molded or my SKB bass safe.
Though today , i had so much to cary so i thougth i just bring my gig bag to the gig. On the way home , i take the bus.
When its time for my stop , i press the stop button , the bus stops , there is like 4-5 people going of , iam in the front , when the bus driver just shuts the door right in front of us when walking of the bus , he just didnt pay attention or something , i jump back but one half of my Gig bag carrying my brand new Fender J is still outside the door , the door shuts right on the neck. We are talking high power hydralics here.
Some guy stuck with his foot to , dont know if he got injured.
So we walk of the bus , i wrote down the number of the bus and will call the bus company tomorrow.
And for my bass , the neck is very injured , its a 2-3 cm deep "hole" in the neck on both sides.
This really really sucks , i hope everything works out with inscurance and stuff.

I will never take my basses in gig bags anymore ! And never trust a bus driver.

best of luck man, I hope it gets taken care of.

Think of the bright side - your J bass is a hero, it may have saved some stranger's foot!

Oh man that sucks. Don't those doors have sensors? I remember once a twig got caught in between the doors and they kept opening and closing on it. Hope you get reimbursed for that.

Thanks for all replies ,
Yes i got plenty of back up basses , so thats no problem.
But that bass ... you know it was just the perfect bass , perfect , a real player.
Well , ill have to fix a new neck ...
About the sensors , it was them who saved me , the sensors opens the door , then the busdriver shuts them , and im guessing the busdriver didnt look or something , theese busdrivers are crazy and really bad , off course its a tuff job but still. And when the doors shut on the bass , the sensors opened it.

Oh, I didn't notice that this was in Sweden. There are probably a lot more busses there than here. When I take the bus to school, it takes me about 45 minutes, but we only go through 4 stops before I need to get off, and they are all busy stops, so the drivers know to make sure everybody's on.

But if there are a bunch of small stops here and there, then it's understandable how people could just lose track of everything.

Yeah , well this is a pretty small stop.
The bus drivers in my town are very busy , and they cant follow the time schedule , so they get irritated and angry.
They have gotten a lot of critic because of this , since there has been a lot of accidents.

Now you can get a Precision neck for your Jazz, just like Jaco did!

That sucks man. Do you have any pics?

Once I was riding the subway in DC and a kid rushed in, trying to make it before the doors closed. He got his head in and it closed on his neck. We opened the door up and he was fine.

Another time in Miami, a kid was getting off the back door of the bus and the door shut on the back of his head. Judging from his expression, it looked like it hurt quite a bit.

Bummer. That really sucks. I don't even know what to say to that. Get some pics. Like a roadkill. Everyone wants to slow down and look.

Bus drivers. here they are very reckless and rude . That's why I use a gig bag , I can't afford to be wrestling a bass case in a crowded mini-bus.

I used to have an anvil case for a spector I used to own (still wish I had it!) that could break a bus in half.
