My 14 year old boy did his first gig last night.
6 bands, everything went smoothly with all involved.
My boys band really sounded great. I was so proud. The torch has been passed. He's on the bass of course. Attachment 124586

Sad to see that the guitarist has a Marshall half-stack. Hopefully he played tastefully enough to justify the equipment.

I had the distinct pleasure of watching my 9 year old perform last summer. He played drums and sang "Day Tripper" for the culminating concert at "Rock On" camp.
P.S. are you sedan_dad on the H.A.M.B. too? |

Concerning the original songs they played - It's cool that they're already writing their own stuff! |

Now to steal a singer from one of the other bands. They were complaining that most of the singers were just grunting howlers. They do know what they want.
The only thing I did while I was there was to make sure they had a ballanced sound.

Sounds like he's a good player.

My Dad came to the show. The door man said "sir, I don't think you want to come in here." My Dad says, "You're right, but my son is in the band."
He was actually very supportive but that still cracks me up.

I was going into a rehearsal hall this last week and some youths were being escorted out having made themselves a nuisance around a studio where a local phenom, Linda Vista, was playing. They came out of the door and plunked down on the sidewalk with very cheap guitars/bass in hands and starting playing as best they could, the licks they had just heard. I made me laugh, in a non-athletic hero worship kind of way, and made me sad, that after 40 years I'm still playing where kids hang out.
