The only way I would loan gear is with an equal-value collateral security deposit and to a person who babies his or her gear more than me.

In short, it ain't gonna happen.

Bassbully, I just found out from her drummer that the volume level got way outta hand. He tells me that by the fourth song he could hear the rig breaking up. So now I have a cab that sounds like an over distorted guitar! At least the drummer says he will tell her tonight.

At the risk of having someone think you are a jerk, NEVER loan amps, bass, etc. under any circumstances. It is not your problem that another bassist did not prepare adequately.

In return, I expect the same treatment. In fact, I would never even think to impose that on another bassist.

I'd rather let someone think I'm a jerk and lose their goodwill, than risk your experience.

$50 fee to use.
Waiver with the amount of item and their name on it saying how much they owe if broken.

Takes 3 minutes and 24 seconds to do on Microsoft word and saves a week long headache later.

This is a good example of exactly why I never let anyone use my gear anymore.

Well, now you have an excuse. "Sorry - the last time I sent my gear to someone it got trashed". No one can really dispute that.

Geezer got his great tone from a Laney with a blown speaker. Besides, if an amp can't handle getting loud, what's the point...

Loud is one thing, driving a 350 watt cab with a 1000 watt head at full tilt is another!

So this bassist borrowed a 350 watt 112 to use for a loud rock gig? Doesn't sound good. What kind of amp did she blow it with?

She told me she had a LMII. Turns out she used an ampeg SVT4 according to the drummer. Apparently she kept turning up until she had pegged the amp. She was using a Squier J-Bass. No FOH provided. Another guy told the drummer it was just a big wall of mush in the audience. A long way from the classic rock covers she said they were doing.

So, I take it she hasn't offered to help you out in fixing what she broke?

Nope. Avoiding me like the plague... I've only met the drummer once and he has called me six times today. He heard about the cab being blown from somebody at his work who is friends with my lead singer. Vegas is still a small town!

Call her directly and talk like adults. If she doesn't return her calls, leave her a polite message that her name will be mud if she doesn't at least return your freakin' call. It may simply be that she's intensely embarrassed or broke (or both!)
