My bf was in the hairdresser's this morning when he met a punk rocker who's looking for a bass player. He set up a meeting for me for Saturday night.
It's been a good oh,15 years+ since I played that kind of stuff, but hey that should be a slam dunk for me. That was when I first picked up the bass. I was in a punk rock band in high school and I was a really crap guitarist so they demoted me to bass player. Ha.
It's at least something for me to do because I have decided to just jam with my friend in the house from now on because it's a lot less wearing on me.
In the future, when you write your memoirs and describe this chance meeting, you should probably say that your boyfriend met this dude at a "Barber Shop". It's a lot more punk rockier that way!!
Better yet, he met the guy while cutting his own hair with broken shards of glass. Yes, that's much better. Seriously tho, go for it, that sounds like it could be fun.
I met the guy and his drummer last night and realized he actually WAS the hairdresser. He is Spanish and the drummer is Italian. I have to meet with them on Saturday..and I'm also taking my guitar friend with me. Perhaps if she's in a group setting she won't feel the heat as much as when it is just the two of us.
These two guys are actually looking to recruit a few more members so it'll be fun to jam anyway!
Well I met up with them last night.I didn't bring the bass and just wanted to have a listen. The hairdresser was a decent enough guitarist, but the drummer was brutal. Beyond brutal. If a drummer can't keep the beat than there is little hope!
I am going to bring my bass tomorrow and jam with them just for a laugh. No matter how bad of a bassist I think I may be, the drummer's lack of talent will definately overshadow mine.
