New Year, New Band

I was away for most of the month of December and I was really wondering when I was going to get in a good band again. Well......I get back in town on Wednesday and a club owner friend of mine calls and says he knows a guy that is looking to put a little blues/rock trio together. So I go down to this club on Friday night and there is this guy playing with a couple of pickup players. The bassist isn't really making it. He asks if there is anyone that plays in the house. So I put up my hand and I sat in on three tunes. He gives me his number as I am walking off stage. So, Saturday he calls and says he has a gig that night. So I played and it all went great. So we are playing the next two weekends at this place. I am so psyched about being out playing again. I will keep you all posted

Cool/congrats... tell us more about the band.

Is there lost of jazz around where you are? Afriend of mine spent the last year in Sapporo and said the jazz scene was incredible.

I got involved with a new band a few weeks ago too. Strange to have it happen right around the new year. Huge change from what I was doing last year... went from pop punk to gypsy jazz. And I finally get to play upright seriously again! w00t!

Cheers -

I live in Okinawa which is a small island south of mainland Japan. The music scene here is great however the jazz portion is the smallest part. As far as the new band goes, we will doing stuff by all the three Kings (b.b., albert and freddie) some SRV, Gary Moore, Hendrix, Cream in a trio format. Three of the clubs we have scheduled so far have house backline, PA and lights and sound guy (not a bad one). I am really excited about it.
