"He drove his crane in through the front door, parked it by the pool"

Yep, you know it's going to be one hell of a gig when you hear that they need to hire a crane just to set up the PA. Glad you had great time.

We had a great gig at our favorite place to play. It's a restaurant that becomes a club after dinner. We played five sets (8-1) and the croud loved it. The restaurant sold 755 dinners and God knows how much alcohol.

One of the best things was the whopping four minute drive home.

It was a good time. Last time we played this venue, I felt that it was a little hard to keep my stage volume under control, so for NYE, out came the SVT Micro-VR. My bandmates kinda chuckled when they saw it, but it brought the noise. You can get a lot of mileage out of those heads with an efficient 4-ohm cab. During the last set, we decided to have a little fun. We had audience members come up and sing Margaritaville to us as we went out on the dancefloor and played. You haven't truly experienced Margaritaville until you've heard it sung in three different keys at the same time. At the end of the night, the bar manager and I kinda got a little flirty with each other. When we were driving home, my BL and I laughed when he said he got a little nervous, saying he was thinking, "Alright Paul, she's the one who books and pays us!" I said that I should have asked for her phone number.

I even decided to have a little class to my outfit and wear a vest with a pocket square:

I had a big messy NYE gig with my originals band Dick Venom & The Terrortones opening for the awesome Vince Ripper & The Rodent Show at The Maze here in Nottingham UK.

Just a taster of what the night was like...

I was ripped off at my gig. Promised $200 and guy who hired me says he can only afford $100 even though he paid two other members $200 each as they were 'new'. The gig was to pay$200 apiece for 4= $800, but he said they only paid $600, so the 'new' guys get 200 each and the guy who hired me wants to split the remaining $200 with him.

Tayed sober the entire night. Played for good pay to a mostly older, married, family crowd at a popular mexican restaurant. They were cleared out by 12:15. I was packed and out by 12:45. Drove across town to the "popular" New Years Eve spot which is a hotel/bar to see another band (I"m friends with all the members and have subbed with them). Got in without having to pay cover, was given a couple free drinks by friends, saw my friends band play 5 or 6 songs, sat around and talked to the band for a while afterwards, and then roamed from room to room hangin with other friends. Got home bout 3 a.m., put the fixins for homemade vegetable beef soup in the crock pot, turned it on and went to sleep. Woke up New Years Day with no hangover, hot home made soup, and $250 richer!!

Club owner in Amarillo tried to stiff us, didn't happen but still made for a bummer ending to an "OK" night.

Thanks - spent most of the following day cleaning Mr Venom's green body paint off my bass and clothes!

Not the greatest. I was on my way to soundcheck on my motorbike (cause I was using IEM and I knew parking would be difficult) and drummer calls me to tell me that he forgot his drumsticks and asks me to go on a wild goose chase to try and find a music shop still open at 1.00pm on New Years Eve.

Went round 3 shops - all closed. By now I am very late for sound check so I try to hurry and ending up crashing into a car which made a side turn. My fault entirely and I agreed to pay the car owner - there is more than half the gig money gone. Luckily no damage was made to me nor to my bass strapped to my back and the bike already had some damage there.

The gig was a major concert in my country's capital city and the crowd went from lukewarm to rocking during the 2 hour set but I did not enjoy it because the drummer is getting worse every year and huge inconsistencies are appearing in his playing.

Gig went great, played a local bar and it was packed, dancers all night. Popped some champagne at midnight and passed it around....walked home and went to work the next day!
