no doubt the worst gig on the planet

ok everything seemed normal for a while when we started (it was just a normal concert for a parties my band gets) when "she" arrived our lead guitarist "dream" girl. he just sits there staring at her forgetting that he actually needs to play his part.

to make matters worse he ditches us right in the middle. we made it through without him(thanks the lord our lead singer has some skill)

just to let the night go even worse our drummer just decides to freak out and break 5 sticks and put the drumheads in dire need of replacement(we are not rich its not cheap ya know!)

luckily my bass solo went perfectly(as always)

that was the night in hell. we still gave the lead guitarist his share of the pay.....why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok theres an update here we have ditched our guitarist and got a new one he isnt as good but at least he wont ditch us.

and also im now dating the girl that he chased after just to tick him off(and shes good looking).

Guess what mate? It ain't a little problem when he completely ditches his friends and bandmates in the middle of a gig. I don't care how good he is, if this is a regular pattern of behaviour for him, he's gonna keep doing it. So unless you guys are willing to pay him for saying "screw you" and leaving because he can't keep it in his pants, then don't complain later when he does it again.

Atleast you didn't catch fire. That, my friend, is a story.

Kick the guitarist out. They're a dime a dozen, and the next one will probably be even better. And also, tell the drummer to pay for his own goddamn sticks and skins. You don't ask him to buy your strings, do you?

Since it appears you're still in the adolescent band phase of your career, I wouldn't get too annoyed with this one gig. It's all good experience. I think I may have had a few equally disorganized gigs myself way back then.

Um, you don't pay to replace your drummers heads and sticks do you??? Being responsible for his own repairs will settle his arse down quite a bit.

Whatever you call it, it's selfishness...

I'd dump the guitarist like a hot potato. When you're practicing for a gig, is it so that HE can get chicks? Or when you're schlepping your gear into the club? Or playing? Bottom line is he's completely irresponsible...I'd be in his face and tell him in a very direct way that that was his ONE free pass. Anything else along those lines, and he's free to start a band w/ someone else (or the dream girl).

What are you in a band for? Fun? make it a career? Etc. find out what you really want to do? if its just for fun, keep him. If its for a career. **** him off.

Job From Hell

Elmira Correction Facility (Max security prison). Labor Day, 1980. 98 degree day, humid as a mother! Set up in the yard at 8:00 AM to play at noon. Guards went through all cases, confiscated tools, etc. Searched all of us. Got set up eventually after having to drag gear through mud puddles. Played for 3000+ inmates, mostly of color or other ethnic population (we were 4 nice clean cut white boys!). Worked our butts off only to be constantly hit on by members of the crowd. Guards posted by our equipment during dinner break. We ate with the guards who said "At least we know if we eat here in the guard's mess, that no inmate jacked off in the roast beef).

A sea of human waste. Total take was $350...........Not for $3,500 would I go and do that job again!

Just think how much worse it would have been if you'd tried to load out and the guards stopped you, saying "Excuse me...WHERE do you think you're going?"
