Our bands policy for drunk strangers who want to play a tune or two is "It's against band policy". Unless your name is Eric Clapton or Buddy Guy or something, THEN NO PROBLEM, please be our guest!

How do you handle these bozos?

"nah the drummer/keyboardist/bassist has OCD & is SUPER compulsive about his gear....."

But I understand- I hate this- their usually P***ed , have NO time/ing etc......we just try & get 'em outta the way- 'the show must go on" is a good one...i.e. this "SHOW" is important(maybe add "we have a couple of 'promoters' in the audience" too) to the band & we're trying to put on a "pro" show so.......SORRY'

Or just a simple **** OFF!!!! ;-)

No I'm just saying that everytime I open a thread I almost always see that exact picture. Not that I'm sick of it mind you! That jazz is killer! Do you have like Jolly Green Giant hands or something?

Careful, one of them might take you up on it and the wife may not be an even trade

In Oakland we were doing some covers and had just finished some Cream stuff, and this guy, obviously hammered, asks if he wouldn't mind sitting in. We tell him, thanks for the offer, but we don't have "extra" equipment for him to borrow and such, and we wouldn't want any of our guys to be without instruments. (We were some pretty laid back stoners )

He asks what our next song will be, I shrug, and the guitarist goes "Layla." As you can tell, we were on a Clapton kick at the time... it must've been something in the water, I swear!

The drunk guy goes "I know that one, mind if I borrow your guitar for just that song?"

"Sure as your name is Eric Clapton."

Guy nods, gets his wallet, and whips out his ID.

Now I'm sure there wasn't a relation because I'm vaguely sure this guy was mexican, but the guitarist ate his own hat on that one. What can I say, we were laid back.
