I got to the gig 40 miles from my house about an hour before we started, Set up my amp and bass, did the sound check. I opened up my bag and realized I had left my charts at home. Oh, what a night The drummer had a good laugh though. After a couple of screw up he said over the mike - Folks tonight on bass we have ---- I am like dude you didn't have to announce that.

Happened to anyone else? Am I alone?

Make a copy of your charts and leave them in your gig bag permanently.

yeah it only happens once, my bad was leaving the mixing desk at home, and it was a 2 hour round trip i had to do, even worse, no one else in the band knows how to wire up the PA.
A bit of a late start but the gig went well.

At times like these I look over the Keytard/guitard's shoulder!!. failing that, I can also eyeball Guitar Chord shapes and Keytard's left hands!

You think that's bad?

One time I was on my way to a gig and I forgot myself!

I drove back as fast as I could to get me, but when I got home I asked myself, "Where the hell am I?", in which I replied, "I already left without me."

So I just stayed home and got drunk.

I have done this. Got all ready and dressed and ran out the door. Got to the practice space to pack up, and I had forgotten my 2 basses at home!

Horrible situation, but at least you were still in the game. The worst I ever did was forget the power cord to plug in my amp. Fortunately I was able, after a fair amount of discussion, to borrow the power cord from the venue's computer monitor and play the gig. I couldn't believe they were so protective of the monitor's power cord. I had to explain again and again that there would be no bass tonight without it, and they finally relented.

Are you sure you're not actually a drummer?

You thing THAT'S bad?

I went to a gig and just disappeared altogether. It sucked too because I couldn't stay home and get drunk. I no longer existed.

Descartes walks into a bar.
The bartender says, "Are you having a beer?"
Descartes says, "I think not," and ceases to exist.

Not sure why but I keep an extra power cord in my case, one in my backup bass gig bag and one in my gig bag. Along with extra cables.
