DO NOT sand off the current paint job on the kitchen table and expect your fiance'/girlfriend/wife to be okay with it.
back to fighting the dog for the pillow on the floor.

you should always sand outside / in a well ventilated area

12-16-2010, 02:09 PM
| | | | the #1 rule to refinishing is to remember that the dust probably toxic chemicals. Use this knowledge to your advantage - wear a dust mask, do it in a well-ventilated area, keep it away from food, I'd even wear gloves and long sleeves while doing it. |

No man should expect to be kicked out of his own bed unless he has the right to do the same to *her* when *he's* PO'd for any reason, rational or irrational. Stand up for yourself, boy!!!
Kidding around? Yep. But also dead serious? Abso-freakin'-lutely!

| | | | Went through a long, hard divorce a couple of years ago. Now live with my son. Bought and Epiphone EB-5 bass that I was experimenting with and decided to install Bartolini's with active electronics. This required routing the pickup cavities. I decided that I was going to do this on my countertop in the kitchen, which I proceeded to do. This felt good. I know that (a) I made a mess (b) I could have slipped with the router and then I could be buying a new counter top, but I didn't care. It was my house, my bass, and my counter and I was going to do what I wanted. Very liberating experience after 22 years of marriage!

back to fighting the dog for the pillow on the floor. | I completely disagree!!! One thing I have learned after 20 years of happy marriage is my wife still expects me to do the stupid thing. Now your girlfriend is upset, years later she will shrug her head and say, "Well, he is still an idiot."
Conversation as follows:
My Wife: You are an idiot!
Me: And when in the last 20+ years have I not been an idiot, that now we are suddenly surprised I did something stupid?"
It is a perfect out - it will also buy some leeway for your children. As she will walk away saying, "You kids are just like your Dad!" Proving your stupidity is not accidental equals a great relationship.

I can have my coffee table completely covered in parts and if I'm missing something I need for a mod, I can leave it that way! Awesome!
I've also been flinging excess solder onto the floor just because I can! |
