I was checking out a friend's jazz trio this past weekend. About halfway through the second set, a pretty well known singer in this area shows up and asks to sit in.

OK no problems so far but then said singer:

1) Proceeded to go to the stage and, between songs, pay the bands bassist (who apparently the singer owed money to from a prior gig). The rest of the band is waiting and this singer is up there writing a check.

2) Got up and sang two songs and at the end of the 2nd song, put in a plug for a gig this singer has next week... with a different band... at a competing venue.

3) Promptly bolted the venue without so much as thanking the band or waiting for break to leave.

I was talking to my friend (who was drumming in the band that night) the next day and he said he'd never seen anything like it. Can't say as I have either.

What is it with people these days? Has all sense of professionalism (not to mention common sense) just gone out the window?
