At tonight's gig with
Południca we decided to do the first song of the third set with everybody switching instruments to whatever they have the least clue how to play. So our clarinet player ended up on bass (and asked me "which string is the D"), me on vocals, lead singer on drums, backing singer on keys, mandola player on clarinet, some guy from the audience whose birthday it was on mandola, and our drummer ending up on hammered dulcimer. While we're getting ready to play and everybody's trying to figure out how to get a sound out of whatever they ended up with our lead singer, who plays that dulcimer on about half the songs, yells at the drummer "You idiot! That's the tuning wrench, don't hit the strings with it!"
Ah, drummers... The song actually went all right, just sounded more avant-garde than usual.
