So...
My girlfriend somehow-and I've yet to confirm this-is related to Joe Perry. And whether it's divine providence, or just blind luck she thinks that I'm attractive enough to date. So after work one day, she shows me an envelope she got in the mail. The return address is from someone named Billy. She opens it up, and pulls out four backstage all access passes, and four 4th row stage right tickets for the Cocked, Locked, and Ready to Rock! Aerosmith tour.
So we go down to the Bank Atlantic Center and wait for the doors to open. When they finally do, after what seems like forever, we become lost in a sea of people. Then finally after showing a million people our passes and tons of security checks, we get ushered downstairs to the loading dock, where I happened to snap this picture of my girlfriend chatting up two older gentlemen. I still don't know who these people are.
We then make our way down another hallway and out the backdoor. Through that door, we see a black bus with a guitar hero logo on the back. We're told by security to "wait here". This is mostly what happened.
And while we were waiting I found the catering area.
Joe Perry finally comes through the door with his wife Billy, and my girlfriend, her dad, and I walk over to him. My girlfriend's father is his cousin, and he introduces us all around. This hand that I'm typing with now actually touched Joe Perry. I shall continue to never wash it again. This was a brief meeting, as Joe had to rush off, so no pictures.
Then another member of Aerosmith came through the back door. Now, I have NO idea who Tom Hamilton is. I know NOW that he is the bass player for Aerosmith. But my girlfriend's father pointed out this gentleman and said, "that's the bass player, Brad Whitford. Go say hi." So I introduced myself as a fellow four-stringer, and asked if I could get a picture. Needless to say I feel like such a complete knob.
He was a good spirit about it, shook my hand and went off to his dressing room.
After this, Sammy Hagar's set had ended and he was getting off stage. He came by as we were deciding what to do, and said hi to us again. Then we were ushered out by security to our seats a few minutes before Aerosmith took the stage.
Then this happened....
With my ears ringing and my head ablaze from the really good pot someone lit up behind me, we made our way home. Still dazed with my brush with greatness, and my complete inability to recognize a bass player when I see one. If this isn't in the right forum, please move.

I'm kidding.
Great way to get a little biography lesson on one of the greatest boogie blues rock bands ever. I am so jealous.
Great pics, great story, thanks for sharing.

I'd have thought it'd have been Crazy, followed by Cryin, followed by Don't Wanna Miss a Thing and so on...

| | | | Oh, trust me........they did all of those. I personally can't stand "Don't wanna miss a thang", But sadly, as it is their only #1 hit to date, they played it.

A while back, a girl asked me what Aerosmith I ahd on my Ipod. I said something like "Erm, Toys, Rocks, Permanent Vacation, Mirrors"
"Do you have Don't Wanna Miss a Thing"
"No"
She has never asked me about music since...
Funnily enough, Toys just came up on shuffle, so if you'll excuse me a moment...

But super cool to back stage and hanging out with the band and all. Honestly, I wouldn't even know what to say in conversation.

a- once let steven tyler use the bathroom at a venue I was providing EMS for, talked with him for a little while even
b- my father is really good friends with a guy that used to date perry's daughter (or one of them)
c- I talk semi-regularly with one of Whitford's sons |

He looked at me as I walked by but my friend had to tell me who he was. He was (a I expect still is) very, very, short. Like about 5'. Not what I expected at all. One tip-off should have been all the decked-out chicks fawning over (literally over) him.
