One benefit to deafness

A drummer friend and I were commiserating about our hearing loss (we've both been playing for a long, LONG, time). He said that due to his hi-hats, he's missing that frequency band in his left ear.
No problem, though-- if the crickets are keeping him awake at night, he simply rolls over!

yea...back in the 70's I played drums. The guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and singers just turned their volume up ...I wasn't miked so I used heavier sticks and hit rimshots on 2 and 4....my left ear has partially left....lol.....wut?

The rimshot thing... I blame Stewart Copeland because in the '80s, a lot of the drummers I encountered were Copeland fanatics who tuned their snare drums high and did what you did: rimshots on the 2 and 4 (although you did it for a different reason). Either way, OUCH! I mean, what? WHAT?!

if I can figure out what frequency my wife's nagging is- I'll try for that, but until then- it's hearing protection for me
