... when we don't know if we are playing or not tonight.
We have this out door gig tonight here in Sunny Florida. But, for those of you who don't know, it rains a lot in Florida in the summer. But it rains and then it stops. Oh, then it can rain again, just when you think you are in the clear.
So it is just after 6 PM here. I need to be there at 6:45 PM for set up (so I'm leaving right after I type this). We will sit by the covered bar and wait to see if we go on at 8 or 9 or not at all.
We don't get paid if we are rained out, but we do get paid in full if we set up and only play one tune. Of course, we don't want to do that either.
But for now, we will wait.
I'll check back either later tonight or tomorrow. |

It was clear skies earlier, drove 30 minutes to find it pouring, and it spend the next hour and a half trying to decide if it wanted to be overcast or dump hail on people.

Got lucky at the Peach Festival last week. Looked like rain, but it went away. Tonight might be different. Outdoors again.

So on nights where it looked like it might rain, we just got everything onto the stage area and had the tarps ready and waiting. Wasn't as fun as actually playing, but at least we didn't miss out on our pay.

We got rained out completely. About 30 minutes before load in time, the leader of the band called me to tell me to not show up. We had a feeling we weren't going to play. Too bad, since it's my favorite place to play. Nice venue, nice customers and lots of eye candy too who like to dance.
Oh well... but on the flip side, the kids were sleeping at friends' houses. My wife was happy that I came home early and proved it to me. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
