Here's an odd one for you. I play at open mic nights here in Atlanta. I play bass and sing, solo. I've yet to see anyone else do it. You?

Thanks for the link, Charlie. If I'm plowing old ground I apologize but maybe I'm not. I rely on my '68 Precision, my voice and my passion for the blues I sing and play and it's been warmly welcomed. At the last open mic in Norcross they asked me to come back.

It's wierd and ballsy but it works. When I say I'm going solo I usually get asked, again, if that's my intent but I forge on. If we feel that we can play, does it belong in the background? Technically, I'm not that good but I have a lot of soul.

Not my intention to bust on you Tony, just figured you might like to know you're not alone. I have deep appreciation for anyone who pushes out our boundaries as bassists, in whatever fashion.

Oddly enough, I solo profusely in many of my band situations, but very rarely in my duo or solo ones. Seems a bit counterintuitive, but somehow it works for me.
