People trying out for your band after you tried for their's

Is this area really this small, or is this just an odd coincidence?

I've been trying out for a few bands the past few weeks, been accepted into 3 (makes it 4 bands I'm in ) waiting to hear on the last one, then I'll trim 'em down.

The first band I tried out for was a guitarist and drummer. The drummer responded to an add I put up, so I met up with them in the city and jammed. Good time, no gigs lined up, and the vocals are a bit rough so I'm not sure. Second band was 2 guitarists, no drummer yet. We jammed a few times, and clicked well enough to where they said I was in and started hunting for a drummer. I started getting CC'd on emails between the rhythm guitarist and a drummer he made contact with and wanted to try out. Turns out the drummer is from band #1. They were talking about my influences on their particular bands and the drummer said that the two bassists sounded a lot alike before he realized we were the same person.

I tried out for 2 bands on Sunday last week, an all originals band, and a tribute band. They both went well but I'm still waiting to hear from the originals. On a good note, I was told last night/today that I made the cut into the tribute band. They tell me they'd like me to show up today and play while they try out another horn player. As we're sitting around BSing, I see the horn player coming around to the back. Turns out, he was the horn player from the originals band I tried out for.

Anyone else ever have something like this happen?
