I'll weigh in on this... some people (not saying anything about the OP) just like to be the hang back and hold the beat kinda bassist, and some like the attention. I myself am more of the later, I just feel more comfortable moving around and getting people's attention on stage than standing around, I feel like I'm there to entertain, I oughta.
btw, so far, I've gotten more action then my lead guitarist, because I hold down the low end, and stay smooth!
