Playing 2 Gigs at 2 Clubs At The Same Time

Sign in to disble this ad
On a hot summer South Florida night I was playing with a trio in a Supper Club on Hallandale Bch. Blvd. and also 2 Miles west in a Rock Club.
Dressed all in black to suit both gigs first I played a set with the trio and as soon as it was over I threw the bass in the case, slapped it shut and dashed out to my car. Opened the the door threw the bass in the back seat, jumped in an pealed out of the parking lot doing 60 down the blvd.
Ran into the Rock Club pulled out my bass, jumped on stage and plugged in. As soon as that set was over I went through the same thing to get the supper club in time to play the next set. Up and Back for 4 sets at each gig. Did I think I would pull it off? I didn't have time to think I just ran like my life depended on it.

I would love to try that sometime. Probably will never happen. Being in 2 bands at once is tough.

Forget dedication, that's straight Jack Tripper right there.

Sometimes I'll do the Sunday Circuit. Wake up at 6am to play 3 church services, then drive for 1.5 hours to band practice and play for 3 hours more. And they said Sunday was a day of rest!
