So yes I am a returning bassist and I am looking to join a band, I just want to play, even if it means struggling a little, after not playing for so many years, but I am a person who LOVES challenges: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/muc/1217533222.html
So far 2 answers, one for an audition, the other to give me it was a refreshing ad and give me a word of encouragement.
What do you think?

I admit my first reaction was you are being a bit down on yourself. It's no biggie but I maybe would have just said I haven't played in a band for a while.

What do you think? | Not bad. You let everyone know what you`re about from the get-go and are honest about yourself and your abilities. All I can add is best of luck to you and I hope you find some great people to play with

You've described yourself & your situation; see who salutes. You may well have many positive years of enjoying the instrument & playing ahead of you. I'm still jammin...with guys about 10 years younger than me...but still old pharts, in the world of r&r. It's all good...enjoy!...and good luck!!!

Thats the kinda thing we were looking for when we started and i placed an ad on CL pretty much stating we were looking for someone like you, we found a decent bass player that I really enjoy jammin with.
So yeh that works
good luck to you

Bedroom, because most people work out of its boundaries.
Very middle-class, very Mormon.

That's pretty much the situation I was in just over a year ago when I joined the band I'm in now. I hooked up with a group of late-30's to early-40's guys who are skilled musicians, but have good jobs and families. We take our music seriously, and we have a great time doing it, but there is no expectation of ever "making it". For me, it's a perfect fit.
Good luck, man! |

All the talk of your practice regimen says you lack confidence, and may not be ready to do what you think you want to do. Maybe something more like...
Rock bassist returning to the scene after several years hiatus looking for ..... style / schedule / location (travel radius). no ego , drug free, etc.
Get in and out. save everything else for when you get someone on the phone. |
