Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?

my old band Purple Planet, I'm the bearded one. actually I'm not embarrassed by this pic, except on behalf of our drummer at the time. I still have the same guitarist. I don't look much different now, nor dress different! slightly less big hair, (not by choice d: )
somewhere I have some pics of me from high school and college which might actually be embarrassing. the 70's didn't really end in 1979 kids. we'll see if I dust those off or not. d:

This picture always cracks me up . This was taken in 1979 when we were playing in a bar that was converted from a disco. The tiny "stage" was designed for a DJ booth and not a band. To get an idea how small the stage was, we had the floor monitor propped up on a couple of chairs on the dance floor so we could all fit. Of course, the guitard had to have his Marshall stack. It's also a lot of fun to play the entire show with a giant mirror ball 2 feet from your head....

Reverse Thunderbird
Telecaster
EB-3
4001 Rick
P bass
The photo was taken in the early 70s. I'm holding the Rick.

(a) The guy in the middle set up the camera then joined in the picture. He said to count to 10. I was only on 7-1/2.
(b) I was still laughing at the last picture.
(c) Mom always said it's not polite to sneeze into the camera and I felt one coming on.

For some reason, I still like the older heads and cabs even though they are very heavy. I currently have an SVT 6 Pro
an early 70s SVT Head, two SVT410HE cabs and an early 70s SVT 810.

But what I've learned is that technology really has raced forward while I was in that groove and there are wonderful new things too that are smaller, lighter and just as powerful. Especially the cabinets have improved drastically. I could go back to playing the 370 head and be happy (if a roadie would lug it around for me), but I wouldn't want to go back to the speaker cabinets. The Thunderchild is just an amazing piece of equipment.

| | | Had to be the summer of 1970 and the song would have to have been All Right Now as it was the only song I would have been playing that high on the neck. Vox Tear Drop and Fender bassman with two cabs. Traded them all in on for 3 15" D140 Jensen speakers for a Cascade Green Kustom cabinet I just had to have.
