Proud Dad moment

Just have to brag a little here. The chorus at my son's high school put on a show doing Broadway show tunes. They asked my son to play bass during the songs from Grease. He did 3 different shows and I got these pics during the last one. He played very well, with only one problem during the first show when his sheet music was out of order. The bass he is playing was bought right here on talkbass from BobWestbrook.

Very cool! I know all about those proud dad moments. Both my kids are very involved in theater. Both also play an instrument and have had several recitals. It's a great feeling to watch your children work hard and become good at something they like to do.

The first gig shots were taken years ago. He's been on stage way more than I have He's been playing in concert band since 6th grade (percussion), marching band since 8th (snare last 2 years) and has played several gigs with his current prog rock band (started on keys, now plays bass). If all goes as planned, next year he'll be marching at UT Martin (that's Tennessee, not Texas).

I knew a lot of people that went to UT Knoxville after high school and they came back a few years later with some great stories, but no degree. I'm perfectly happy that he wants to go to a smaller school. He's been wanting to go to Martin since their percussion director came to his school and worked w/ the band for a show. Plus our last name is Martin

I've done that a few times. I forgot my camera both times I went to this show. Luckily my fiance had hers last night or I wouldn't have had these. That's very cool about your son's gig. It's awesome having something to share w/ your kids.
