Regular Jams?

Sign in to disble this ad
i was just wondering how often other people jam, if they have constant people they jam with, how often and their preferences.
for me i jam with the same guitarist every week during school and for the past two weeks the same two drummers. we usually start off with a Zeppelin riff then extend upon that but we sometimes just do straight improv blues jams.
you?

My brother and I(him on guitar me on bass) tend to jam 2-3 times a week with 2 different drummers and sometimes an extra guitar, harmonica, or cello player. We don't really build off any songs, I just lay somethin' down and people tend to fill it in. Fun stuff.

I used to be in a band that hosted a blues jam once per week for a couple years. As the bass player, I played with a lot of different guitar players and drummers. It was a great experience, and my playing improved considerably from the experience.

Before we got a drummer to help us out, my band would jam before practice. We can't really do this anymore, with gigs to focus on.

Today me, penguin(drummer), and david(guitar) played D'Yer Mak'er and Moby Dick for 40 minutes. at least twenty on D'Yer Mak'er then 6 minutes of Moby Dick(didnt do long drum solo) then we played D'Yer Mak'er the rest of the time because penguin likes reggae.

My band jam at the start of every practice. It's a great way to write new material.

+1. My band does the same and since we are a jam band, its really beneficial for us for not only writing new material, but for working on communication, transitioning, and jamming skill.

If it's good enough for the Chili Peppers, its good enough for me.
Also, I love your sig.

Yea, jamming regularly is a great way to get to know what the other members of the band are able to do. You can see how you can fit into the music with them. They can do the same with you.
It's great afterwards if the rest of the band ask you to play a certain part again, jam it more and then turn it into a song. Perfection.

Les has a way with words, lol.
