I've seen a lot of threads here dealing with the idiocy on CL by posting inane ads and such. I though since you guys got a kick out of this, you'd get an even bigger kick outta this one:

CL has an "Erotic" subforum which is now the target of the sheriff of Cook County

Wow, you can get anything on Craigslist!

I like the boob shot in the article

WELL, at least these adds tell it like it is. I can not say the same for the "Bass Player Wanted" adds.

I emailed one curious about the arrangement and fees and such. It sounded kinda expensive but I guess it saves you gas money haha.

I find it interesting that CL can get away with this because:

"Federal law holds that Web sites such as Craigslist are not responsible for content they didn't create—the reason it won a lawsuit in 2006 alleging that apartment ads that barred minorities or tenants with children violated the Fair Housing Act."

Yet, sites that offer gateways to other illegal activities such as torrents get shut down, sued, etc.

Yeah, but if I allow people to use my house as a forum to sell drugs and illegal guns, then I can get in trouble for that.

I find it hard to see much similarity between a private residence and a website open to the public. What if someone posted fliers for prostitution all over city telephone poles, and the city couldn't take them all down before people saw them? Should the city press charges against itself? The way I see it, craigslist wouldn't exist if someone had to approve every single post before it was made available to the public. Getting rid of the "erotic services" category will just invite these people to spam other CL sections.

I would also like to point out that if the cops had an ounce pro-activeness in them, they would use the CL ads to bust these people. I mean, d'oh!

How stupid do you need to be?

Hmm, it said in the article that you have to pay $5 to post a classified, but I've never had to do that, and I've posted on there recently. Hmmm.
