So I made this account a while ago but never really got around to posting. So I guess telling a gig story would be a good place to start, eh?
So0o0o0o0o played a show in Philadelphia a week or 2 back and we were origionaly supposed to play at this recording studio. A day before the show they call us up and say "Hey guys, we're doing renovations so the show's off." Luckily the promoter got a spot in this cafe right next door to the studio. So we're like ok... whatever. And we go to the place. THeres these 2 fat Russian guys who own it and there's all kinds of expensive glass and silverware on the table and low hanging chandileres(sp?) and there was like this back room that we were warned not to go snooping around... Anyways, we're waiting around for the first band to show up (there were about 5 bands playing) and they never do, so my band ops to play for the 5 people, plus the bands, that decided to show up. We play 2 songs and the promoter's freaking out cause he has to pay rent to the 2 russian guys who are there and he didn't have enough money cause noone showed up! We start our 3rd song, called Carved Beauty, a song about plastic surgery and our singer yells into the mic (as tradition in our band) "THIS SONG'S ABOUT CUTTING A BITCH UP." A few moments later the promoter's wife throws a clipboard at him and storms out of the cafe.
After that, our set gets cut short, we wait around for an hour watching the promoter talk on the phone, yell at the bands and get into numerous arguments with his wife. After all this, we're told that the show is cancelled and to go home. We do. Good show. |
