Almost all of the additional 5 lbs of weight are the 35 9v batteries in the compartment on the bass side of the body....

actually with amps and pres getting smaller and more powerful, I think a bass with a pre and power amp built in is not that far around the corner. Imagine a bass you plug directly into a cabinet.

Funny... Last night I was browsing around for some unique bass pictures, and I found a guy in Holland who actually has made at least one of these. Hes selling for 1500 euros...

I know Takamine does an on-board tube pre-amp for their acoustic-electrics. They fit it by default in their TB10 bass.

See on their webpage.

Well, we already have something similar with powered cabs (like Berg's) and high-quality combos.

Wonder about the heat generated by the power amp and wood, though. Maybe a bass made entirely of carbon fiber or graphite to allay any heat-related concerns? Imagine if the Spinal Tap bassist had a wood bass with a hefty SVT-like amp section built into the bass. Then he'd spontaneously combust, just like the drummer.

Well, maybe a little less rapid than spontaneously....

Always thinkin'.

Whoa, I forgot it was April Fool's when I was on the Sadowsky site earlier, and totally thought this was real and they lost their minds.

A better April Fool's would have been Sadowsky outsourcing the manufacture of bodies to Wishbass

This is rich!

I think an NYC wishbass with Sad pups would be well worth the 3500 dollars they'd undoubtedly charge.

Did anyone else read the owners manual and realize 3 pages in that it there was no joke coming? April fools on myself.

Wow... did you happen to check out any of their other basses?

Some absolutely killer, and som absolutely wacky stuff... I like the puzzle piece themed bass, and the weird 2 string madness.

What the hell is this???

Or this???

And this???
