Its just over played like most song songs on the radio. For some reason I think the $420 was more of a drug reference. I would have played the song and gladly taken her money.

If the lady looked like she couldn't afford a $420 tip, I would have encouraged her to keep the money and play the song anyway.
If the tip came from a pool of people or she looked like she could easily afford it, I would have taken the money and played the song.
Is it one of my favorites? No, but I would have played it if I knew it. Especially if playing in a cover band. Do I dislike the song, not really......

The sound of LS's singer makes me upchuck almost as much as the singer for Foreigner (......almost).

She was wasted and it felt awkward and cheapening to the band to take her money. We could have plowed our way through like many other local bands might have done and made an unrehearsed mess of it but we politely, humorously declined her offer and continued through our set list, followed our "Tom Landry Game Plan" and were rewarded with a full room standing ovation by playing We Won't Get Fooled Again.
And they loved it.

I guess if you guys feel ok taking advantage of a drunken woman waving money for a song then, so be it. Its your choice. |

You basically contradicted yourself. It is not the band's responsibility to police her behavior. If she was drunk and woke up the following morning and realized that she had given away her money, it have caused her to change her behavior and not put herself in that position in the future. On the other hand, did you ever consider the possibility that she wasn't drunk? She may be financially stable and just wanted to hear the song.

| | | | $420 wouldn't persuade our band to play Freebird.
I have never had to play it, nor do I ever hope to but, I'd play any song for half that.
Most of the guys in our band are doctors and lawyers and they probably make that much
per minute during the day. So, if you want them to play Freebird you're gonna have to
come up with something much more enticing. I'm just a working stiff so it doesn't take
much to entice me. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
