Ok. So I play in a "garage" band with two of my buds.
My cousin Mike plays drums and, in the last few years, has started playing guitar.
Steve plays guitar and has been playing about as long as Mike.
They both have a little ways to go before they are fluent at it, but in their defense I must say they have been impressing me lately.
I have been playing Bass a couple of years longer than both of them combined. I am no Jaco but I have been impressing myself here as of late too.
But anyway, we get together on the weekends and get down with it.
Now my predicament is: When Mike plays drums it is balls out. But when Mike plays guitar: SCREEEEECHHH to a halt! Now I am being asked to play whole notes basically .
Very annoying, and not to mention boring.
Also, Steve's timing is not so great. He tends to get lost after about two bars, changing on the three, etc...
After a little while of this I start doing my own thing and I tend to run them over.
Then I start getting this look....
And then I give them back this look....
And then they give me back this look....
And then I try to fall back into line .

Oh well...what can a bassist with ADD do...?

Some people need that formal music training... Seems like they're missing the very basics of rhythm. Even bad players with good rhythm can hold a song together

Ask them to take lessons or something. I got my drummer to take lessons and since then things have been smooth sailing.
