How many bassists are annoyed by this quote from I love you man? I get it all the time and I'm a double bassist.

I love it. I also love the Rush references in that movie. Sure, it's annoying, but in the context of the movie, it's kinda funny.

To each his own.

It's a good movie, but considering I get it literally ever gig, it gets annoying. At least I'm not the guy who gets talked to about gear in the middle of a tune.

I get that until somebody actually hears me do it.

*fistbump* That movie was the best thing that ever happened to my street-cred as a bassist.

LOL!

I get it all the time, too. Honestly, I find it annoying, funny, and amusing all at the same time. People actually come up to bass players after gigs now and will talk to them and take interest in their role in a band. To me, that seems like a very nice thing for an often overlooked instrument. Actually, I'm beginning to see a lot of girls do that motion whenever I'm playing right in front of them. I just smile and wink at them, and they will usually come up and talk to me after the gig

Yes! I absolutely hate that phrase! And I only hear it from my non-musician friends. The worst part is, that anyone who says it to you thinks it's clever and funny, and automatically thinks you must think it's clever and funny since you're a bass player.

Everytime someone says it to me, a part of me dies inside.

Anyone see Rush's tour last year? Jason and Paul filmed a clip as those characters that they played after the last song.

It's not annoying to me at all. It's probably the most recognition I'll ever get at a gig as a bassist. No one knew what I played until that movie came out.

I love it. That is a great movie, and any one who says it to me at a gig is OK in my book.

I've never gotten it myself and I STILL find it annoying that it even exists. I'd be ready to do some slapping alright, directed at the clown who dares to utter that phrase in my presence.
