I think I would have serious reservations about having my wife in my band.

Just make sure you stay aware of keeping the band and relationship separate or you could have problems. Had a guitarist date our singer once and they used to bring their arguments to band practice. Very awkward.
Good luck. It sounds good. |

Fun Fact about this gig? the venue Gasoline Alley has a kick ass PA, a great sound man but a dismal crowd. We paid bar bills to play and were stiffed at the end of the night. Not much fun there. Needless to say we won't be doing that again.
We had played here before on 3 or 4 occasions making a high of $150 for 1 set. The venue always has 3 or 4 different groups. We started at midnight as the last act.
There was maybe 15 to 20 people in the place and we could only draw 8 from our friends since the time was so late.
Creep did get some couple all hot and bothered dirty dancing style in their booth |

Sooooo, I can just imagine what you all are doing today from the name of the band.

Like someone said, a little pitchy here and there, but is that her fault? She seemed to get the low stuff fine during the quiet parts, and only got pitchy when it was loud.
Are you guys playing too loud and drowning out the monitors? If she can't hear herself, no way for her to tell if she's flat. You might as well have Lou Ferrigno singing lead.

As others mentioned, a bit flat here or there but good monitoring and experience will take care of that. Wearing ear plugs also allows you to hear exactly where your vocals are as well.
The band also sounded great, and nice solid playing on your part. Good job!

Hard 2 Handle is a much better example for her, i think . Post that one too. Give her some good rocking female songs too...

There's your mistake. Don't s--t where you eat...nothing but bad things can come of this. I hope you either don't like your band, or don't like your GF, because chances are in a few months you're going to find yourself short by at least one of the two.

Take your pick, but am glad everyone had fun for that night.

To the naysayers, you DON"T even know us.
We run a successful business together as well. I eat, $hi+ and sleep very well next to this woman.
From a guy that has two ex wives and no plans on getting married. She is the one I should have picked.
But we agree on many things, musically our tastes are similar. We both feel the same about marriage. Keep it simple and be happy. Karma will take care of the rest. |

As for your YouTube, the second two songs are more flattering to her voice. There's no way I'm going to criticize, she's brave. Singers, and especially female singers get most of the attention, and with nothing to hide behind. A year from now she'll be telling you to quit crowding her spotlight

| | | | she did really good. i hope u guys stay together, u sound very happy. my ex boyfriend, back when we were dating, is actually the one that gave me an extra nudge for bass ( i had been thinkin about playing it for a while) we were thinkin about startin a band, but that never happened, and im kinda glad it didnt back then cuz it would have made things very awkward for band time. but then again, who knows, we may have stayed together because of it...

Karma will take care of the rest. | I'm going to go ahead and apologize for my first post, didn't quite do a good job of explaining what I meant. I'll try and explain it in a way that doesn't come off as an attack against you or your girlfriend, since that definitely wasn't the intention.
Being in a band is like being in a relationship. Most people in bands are very passionate about music (hence why they've dedicated the time and energy into being musicians) and unfortunately when you get together a group of people who are all very invested and passionate about a common interest there will be disagreements. Fortunately in your average band when there's a creative disagreement and practice is over everyone can part ways and cooler heads will most often prevail. This is why I caution people against getting involved in musical projects with significant others/family members/very close friends/etc. There is no cool-down afterward, and conflicts in one relationship can carry over into the other. If you're at a point in your relationship where you can defuse those conflicts together that's awesome, but for most people my advice is to keep the band life and the love life separate.
