So I decided to video my band...

Sign in to disble this ad
and I was just wondering what opinions my fellow bassists would have.

This gig was about two weeks ago at The Tavern in Wigan, UK.

I'm open to critisism and would like your advise of how we could improve.

Thanks a bunch

Mark.

Before I can form an opinion I'll need to see many close-up pictures of your singer...STAT!

www.myspace.com/shesgotissuesuk has some, and she's a model for some agency or other.

First off, I can't hear the singer very well. And it sounds to me like she needs to build up confidence in her own voice. It sounded like she was holding back.

Other than that you sound pretty good. Don't stand behind a pillar for the next video though. I wanted a better look at the bass you were using.

The singer is a very confident lady, one of the most confident people I know, as for the piller, thats actually a spindle from a railing, I couldn't set the camera up anywhere else.

There I was borrowing my friends Shine 6 string Jazz due to my 6 string needing repairs.

And thank you for the compliment.

I have to agree with that statement, to an extent, I have seen some horrible teeth here, and some not horrible ones. It's a mixed bag.

I'll try to stay on topic.....but it's hard cause the singer is really cute and has a very good voice.

Overall very good. The mix on the video wasn't even that bad, you cut through very well in most spots. Music seems pretty tight, good bass lines, overall really good in my amateur opinion. If anything you guys could use a little more energy/interaction, but looked like a small stage and venue. I would be very happy dropping a few pints and watching you guys.

I recently watched a camcorder video of one of "what I thought was" my best performances. The raw video and un-produced audio took all the life out of the show. It was not at all what I remembered. Amature video cameras are very unflattering, in general, but you guys looked good and I could hear it pretty well too.

Yer I know what you mean about the amature camcorder thing, it's really a shame about that I would have loved to have seen it from the other side of the stage, just to see what it was actually like.
