Well I went to the practice space and low and behold, all the other guys are MIA. Nobody's answering the phones. So I suck it up and try to load the most equipment as possible into my girlfriends grandfathers car. Well I have to say that a 94 Caddy Deville is the best car, by far, to transport gear. I had loaded in this baby:
1 4x12 Peavey Cab and 1 4x10 Acoustic cab, 1 bass, 2 guitars and a Mic stand in the back seat alone. In the passenger seat I fit a Marshall 2x10, Peavey XXX head, and my Acoustic B200h. Needless to say I'm not wrenching my back anymore once I get to the show.

dude -

Set up the gear you have in the caddy, go on solo, wreck all the gear at the end of you tunes that's not yours...collect and keep all the $.

You don't need those other cats for an entertaining show!

If I were in your shoes, there would definitely be some serious heart-to-heart time when I found those band "mates".

BIG mistake with guitar players. They'll never move their own stuff again. You must squash this down before it spreads to other bands!

I'd also follow-up on that "having to work" bit--I've used that one myself. And if they realllly had to work, can't they schedule your loadups around their work schedule? Or schedule their work around your loadups?

I'd go on at 9. That'll teach 'em!

And you can fit three or four singers in the trunk!

I have found drummers to be the worste offenders when it comes to loading gear, they never do it.

Au contraire, our drummer is the workhorse of the band. He loads/unloads all his stuff plus the PA and sometimes the guitarist's stuff too! He's a keeper

In my experience drummers get the worst of it, plus they have to tighten 10,000 little wingnuts and thing-a-ma-jigs

I've always bonded with drummers of downbeats and carrying gear.

Our drummer is very helpful as well. Frontman/guitarist.. eh not so much. Make sure you talk to them, because otherwise it will continue. I hate when someone else loads my gear, if it comes to that. I'm afraid they will forgetr something or mishandle it. I'm kind of uptight about it and if I loaded it, I know I got it. If I rely on anyone else, I know I might end up without the things I need.

Because of all the gear they already have to lug around, I have never expected a drummer to help with PA, lights, etc. But I've gotta say, one of the drummers I play with now kinda infuriates me. He is ALWAYS late. (Yeah, I know, drummers always have time issues.) He is NEVER completely set up by the time we're supposed to start. We NEVER get a chance to do a decent sound check. But - surprise, surprise - he can tear down his entire kit and have it loaded in his vehicle about 8 minutes after we have played our last note!

But I still love him for lots of other reasons. Like a brother! I love him like a brother - not that other way!

Well the drummer already packed his stuff up. And once we actually all get to the show it's not a big deal because everyone does their part. Its happened a few times where the singer/guitarist was working or had to take the train into town, and we'd have to set stuff up. Luckily tonight we're the only band playing, so we can load up and play whenever.

I was in a band once where, within a week to 10-day period, every single one of them turned to me & said (at different times, while we were schlepping gear), "You know, John, it seems like every time it's just you and me doing this; none of the other guys ever help."

I would have left their gear at the practice spot. They ask why (if they have the nerve to), just tell them that you are not their roadie. They will get the message. IF they don't get the message, then find another band. You are not a lackey, or a roadie, you are 1/4th of the band, and they should treat you as such.
