So I Just Played a Christmas Show With Jonathan Kilgore

See title. Incredible experience. Most of you probably won't know the talented Mr. Kilgore, but he is one of the most unbelievable saxophonists I've ever had the pleasure to hear play and play with. Myself along with a small ensemble from my Church played 4 songs with Jonathan, and he took the rest of the night to play some solo stuff from his Christmas album. I have to say that it was an honor to play with such a virtuoso. However, I learned a valuable lesson, as well, from having to learn such HARD MUSIC!!!! I had to learn Denver and the Mile High Orchestra swing/jazz stuff that was charted out usually in 3-4 pages of music. I also had to get the feel of swing and jazz, two styles I am not very comfortable with. Feeling the pressure to perform well accompanying such an incredible musician was good for me. It was a challenge, a lesson, and an invaluable opportunity to learn some scales, chordal structures, patterns, etc. It was such a great experience to be challenged. I felt especially good when people in the audience at the church came up to compliment me afterward. Overall, it was such a joy to be a part of such a great Christmas show. And the fact that it was worshipful of God was even better.

Forgot to mention, check Jonathan Kilgore out whenever you get the chance. He really is an astounding musician. It was such a blessing to have him.
