So I was just on the radio

The leader of my band knows this woman who has her own show on Celtic Music Radio. Long story short, we got asked to come on and do a live set tonight.

Yeah that was very interesting. I was really nervous at first cause I immediately likened it to being in a recording studio and I get nervous when doing recordings so...I psyched myself out basically haha. It went really well though! Julia(band leader) talked with the host for a bit, we played a couple songs, the host read out some e-mails sent in for us, they talked a bit more...lather rinse repeat until an hour later we were done.

It was so much more laid back than I thought it'd be. I had such a blast doing it! We're most likely going to go back again for one of her shows and while we were playing, one of the other presenters at the station sent an e-mail saying that she wants us to play on her show too. So woo!

If only I had enough foresight to let you guys know so you could have listened and passed judgement.(it's broadcast online as well as the traditional way) Next time though!

Good job! I remember my first live radio broadcast... it's like being on TV with your britches off or your kilt lifted.... very uncomfortable at first. Once you just treat it like a live gig and forget about the number of folks (hopefully) listening, it's a blast. If you're comfy in the studio or playing your bass direct thru headphones and such, it's usually not too uncomfortable. I've done so many of those broadcasts since that first one that I never get nervous on the radio now. Just gotta make sure you have a well-rehearsed setlist and are TIGHT before you go in. Cheers from across the pond!

Oh we all knew exactly what we were doing. The 4 of us that played have almost over-rehearsed the set haha.

We didn't have headphones. The way it was set up was that the 4 of us sat around a mic that basically picks everything in the room up and played. I had my amp, the rest were accoustic instruments(flute, guitar, banjo and djembe...oh yes) so it just felt like we were at a practise.

Ha the funny thing is I never once thought about how many people could be listening in. Apparently this station has quite a large American fanbase. Got a couple of e-mails from American listeners actually.

Cool story and congrats. Hear Glasgow is a very interesting place with old academic roots and a New Year's party that lasts for weeks. Cheers

Well done! One of my bands is getting national airplay at the moment, it's a cool feeling.

Haha it only lasts that long because in Glasgow, the best way to cure a hangover is to get drunk

It's a nice enough place I suppose. Got a decent music scene which we'll hopefully break into soon
