So I'll be performing in front of Bootsy Collins tomorrow

It's a fundraiser for the Cincy Bar Association. Every year they do kind of a mini "Battle of the Bands" thing. It's just for fun and to raise funds. At least one member of each band has to be a lawyer, so we're doing this as a side project for the guitarist in my cover band. Bootsy is going to be there as a "Celebrity Judge".
Ought to be interesting.
I'll try to get a picture with him.

Yeah, we're only playing 4 songs:
Proud Mary - C'mon, I can play this in my sleep.
Let it Be - Easy enough. Had to transpose to D to accommodate the singer.
Oh! Darling - Kind of apprehensive about this one. I don't think I play it too well.
Don't Stop Believing - No problem.

Again it's just for fun. I'm really looking forward to it!

Don't bring a bass with less than 5 pickups installed in it.

I grew up with Bootsy.

He's perhaps the coolest person I know.

He's never changed in the 35 years I've known him.

That in and of itself is a remarkable feat!

Make it groove, make it fun and he'll love it!

I say sabotage one of the songs with an impromptu funk breakdown, complete with envelope filter and heavy distortion. Crowd the mic and yell 'hello my baby bubba' in mock-Bootsy tone. You're bandmates will hate you for it, and you'll probably tank the gig, but ElMon on Talkbass will give you MUCH props!!!!

Shoot, I don't even own a bass with more than one.
Probably go with the ol' standby, my '06 HWY1 P.

Not gonna lie: I am a tad nervous. Only because that one song I'm not 100% comfortable with. I just learned it last week and, well, I know it, but I don't nail it every time. Got one more night to practice it so I guess I better make the most of it

Very nice. You probably won't feel too intimidated, as you are not going into funk territory.
Have a good time!

Those are not very funky tunes, so just stay true to the songs and you will be just fine. Truly an honor.
