Hi all,
just wanted to share a story about being at the right place at the right time.
Last night (04/28/07) while playing a local bar gig with my "country/rockabilly/bluegrass/rock-n-roll band" in walks Buddy Thompson, THE Buddy Thompson (see rockabilly hall of fame). He says he saw the article on our band in the entertainment section of a local news paper and he wants to check us out. No pressure right? Any way so we do what we do and at the end of the night he is still there. He buys us a round of buds and says, "I need a back up band for "small" live shows, around 1000 to 1500 capacity, can you guys be ready in 4 weeks? Great, your hired." Our first rehersal with Buddy (he said I could call him Buddy...lol) is friday.
We (the band) just stepped up from regular to high test. This man is a living legend and I am now his bass player. My point is, don't be foolish, take every gig you can get 'cause you never know who might walk through the door.
wish me luck, smogg

Nice to read some good news from time to time.

Anyway I'm sure the luck you had was the type Thomas Jefferson talked about when he said he was a great believer in luck, and the harder he worked, the more he seemed to have of it.

Keep doing what you're doing.

yeah, he is in his early 70's but he looks very fit and speaks w/quiet confidence. Our lead singer is also our rhythm guitarist and lead guitar sings as well so they will handle back up vocals when Buddy is out front. The rest of the time our lead singer/guitarist is still our lead singer and still maintains his band leader position....so it's all good.
