My instructor told me this, and it made me laugh and my heart race at the same time so I'll share it here.
He had just got done with a gig, put his bass back in the bag and was loading up his car, when he came back from the car his bass was gone. He looked around for it, no one knew where it was, and he plays a decent Schecter with active pus, it has a great tone. He finally gave up dejected and went home to try to sleep, next day he went back to ask the bartender and anyone else if they'd seen it, turns out the guy who manages the place knows him, saw his bass, was like "well, don't want him to get it stolen" and locked it in his office, then left.
Oh, and he didn't tell anyone he'd done this.
So in the end he got it back and could laugh about it, but he told me from here on out, he's just going to make sure it goes out with the first run so he doesn't have that happen to him again.
