So you guys probably won't care about this at all, but I have to let it out somewhere.
Last night started my towns 'Concert on the Square' shows that happen the first Friday of every month in the summer. The Tams were there last night. Before the Tams went on I introduced myself to their bass player, and he told me to stick around to the end because he wanted to hear me play. I did just that, but I knew he was joking in the back of my mind. After the show, however, I went over to him and told him how great they were, and he pulled my on the stage and handed me his bass. (Here's the comedy. I'm short and fat. He's tall and skinny. He plays with his bass at his waist. It was almost dragging the floor on me.) I started to play, and the strap came undone. He fixed it for me, and I resumed playing, but this time, to my surprise, the drummer joined in, and the bassist started doing some vocal improvising. I handed the bass back to him and thanked him, and he was actually impressed! He invited me back to his hotel room this morning, and a lot of the guys told me not to leave the hotel without speaking to them.
I've been playing for almost a year, and this is by far the coolest thing that's ever happened to me. I think it's good karma as my band's first show is tonight.
