Strange things seen at gigs (on the t.v.'s over the bar.)

Played a gig at a small club in Oakland Park, FL. They had flatscreens everywhere, and they were all playing this strange 70's soft core porn.

That's not the strange thing.

Strange thing was.................we sync'd up perfectly.

Weird.

Him: "Well, your A/C is fixed....that'll be $349.95.

Her: "I don't have that type of cash in the house and my husband has the checkbook!"

*choo-wokka-wokka-choo-wokka-wokka.......*

I actually enjoy the storyline, myself.

LOL...you guys crack me up!

My wife and I were in a bar the night they had the OJ Simpson chase. It was us, and the band and about 4 other customers and the staff. The band stopped playing and came over and sat down and watched it for about an hour with us, and then went back up, played a few songs, came back, wash...rinse...repeat...

I once saw a friend's band in a pub with a big screen behind the stage, which had earlier been showing the football but they had not bothered to turn it off. Anyway the band were playing and a documentary about the Third Reich came on, it was pretty hysterical seeing them play their little indie hearts out to a backdrop of Nazi imagery. And they wondered why we were all laughing...

I've been known to watch some football or a NASCAR night race--or even Formula 1 from like Australia when it come on about midnight here--on the tvs around the bars, kinda one eye on the tv and one eye on the set list.

Soft porn or slasher flicks seem pretty common.

Probably my favorite was at a place with the biggest screen behind/above the band, and it was a local station showing the tornado warning for the storm approaching the part of town we were in...

We were playing during the hockey playoffs last year. I was kind of watching from my vantage point on stage now and again.

The guitar player rips into a solo, and the crowd went wild!!!! I thought to myself "Hokey Pete! They're really into this!"

Turns out the Red Wings had just scored the winning goal.

More about the drummer than the TV behind him. Big game on that night, with a big crowd. Every time there was a big play, the crowd would hoot and hollar. When there was a touchdown, they went wild. During the break, the drummer was ecstatic, saying how much we rocked the house, and they loved us, and we'd be invited back every weekend for the rest of the year!! Yeah right.

Ha! I was gonna post about that too! I was playing at a beach club - we didn't stop playing, but we watched it throughout our set.

play in a cover band and we'd recently just bought our new light rig which incorporates a laser. We thought we were the s**t and couldn't wait to see the reactions of people when they seen it with the fog machine going and everything. So we got to he point in the gig where it gets used it comes on, and whichever setting was chosen it ends up being an elephant at the end of the beams going around and around, but we were the only ones that could see it as everyone in the crowd was facing us and they could only see the beams so they thought it looked pretty cool!!. We were all onstage laughing our heads off

We had very similar situations during the hockey playoffs for a Pittsburgh Penguins game and again in November during a University of Pittsburgh football game. Both times were at the same private club. On both occasions, everybody was watching the game on the big screen TV out by the bar and we were in the table area. We would hear huge rounds of applause and screaming during and after songs and when we realized they were more into the game than us, every time they would cheer and clap, we would say thank you as a joke.

The first gig I ever had with a band early in my music career was on the same day. The bar owner wouldn't let us start until the chase was over. We were supposed to play 3 sets. We played 1 1/2.

Around 1993 I played some shows at an after hours club in Philly called Revival (I think that was the name). They played barbie, gumby, flinstones, jetson pron. Very odd stuff. They also had unisex bathrooms and some interesting stuff happened in there. The crowd was just interesting to say the least.
