Stuff you hate to hear another Bassist Say

Sign in to disble this ad
Yer theres a thread about non bassists, so thought why not other bassists.
for me theres this guy whos relly up himself round me and the other day he challenged me, he sed he could slap faster than me.
Now i dont like to compete in music but hes generally a tool anyway. He did the classic "play higher ground as fast as you can" now since i dont practice higher ground 24/7 like him i cant play that faster, so i did another thing. He said he could do it faster and played higher ground again. so i sed, "can u play anything else?"

the look on his face was hilarious.

so any bassist hates?

Ah, your bass/amp/effects rig is worth less than mine, therefore I am a better player than you.

Does it count that I hate to hear myself talk about basses all the time? To other bassplayers, guitarists, drummers, girlfriends, friends, by-passers etcetera.

And I hate to hear other bassplayers play lousy riffs in the music store when I'm trying out an unamplified bass and the cabin is right behind me. I have a sneaking suspicion that the guy was in fact...a guitar-player!!!!

Bassplayers here are mellow. I'm probably the most annoying player in the hood

"I took bass up cos it was easier than guitar"...

It's a completely different instrument... just cos it's got fewer strings doesn't mean it's easier...

"I only play Bass because they couldn't find a bassist and I was the worst at guitar"

Hmmm maybe that's because no bassist with any sense would touch your band...

"Jaco only needed 4"- Who gives a rats a$$ how many Jaco "only" needed. I need 4 and sometimes 5, so go away.

"I can play like that, I just choose not to"- No you can't. So stop lying.

"Sadowsky's are just parts basses- using Warmoth parts, Dimarzio pick-ups and an Aguilar pre-amp"- Well then, I guess every bass with that combo sounds like a Sadowsky. Funny, they never do though...hmm.....wonder why???

"You play too fast" - (usually followed by my second comment.......) Well, because I can. I don't 90% of the time, but I can and I do.

"You don't need that expensive XXX amp/XXX bass to sound good"- Yeah, maybe it's true, but I like it/them.

I have more. I'll toss them up later.

I don't get many comments from other bassists....but I always like the
"you should be playing a ****** (insert name for bass(usually fender), amp, etc)".

I don't care. You like what you have, I like what I have (finally).

I should add that I'm pretty new to playing so I get some 'advice' that I'd rather not have.
