the thing i hate hearing the most is when someone will tell me how they dont ever change thier strings;

"they're easier to play once they stretch out a lot, they dont hurt my fingers as much, and they sound way better"

sound is one thing thats all opinion, but seriously, ive never come across anyone who knows what theyre doing that can stand to play on dead strings..i change mine almost once a week on my main bass when im gigging a lot

I dunno, i dont usually get people nit picking me since most people around my area tend to think i know what i'm doing...heh, got em all fooled

Anyone who gets that horrible tone out of a Carl Thompson needs to be locked away from society.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I love Les, I love his playing, I love his musical sensibilities (or lack thereof) ... but damn. Dude gets top of the line equipment and dials it in to sound like a freakin' Ashbory.

I got this from a bass player in a half a$$ blues band -
How can you call yourself a bass player if you don't actually play in a band? This was coming from a guy who played the 1 and 5 during Pride and Joy. I guess I still have so much more to learn!

i hate hearing: you have to get a tube amp man, SVT classic is the only way to go.......

i use a GK1001 and i can't convince myself to make the switch, I also don't want to lug around a 90 lb amp!

"Where are the frets? Where are the markers?" ...

"Why did you choose a bass that is so difficult to learn?"

"Your intonation is way off." (No it isn't, you just expected to be because I was playing a fretless)

"Your fretless sounds funny" No, it sounds like a fretless.

''You're not a groovy bassplayer, you suck''
''Fenders suck, they got so much difficulty in quality control, all those MIA suck nowadays''
''This bass is too heavy'' Man if you were 80 I'd understand that
''Flea/Cliff/Les/Steve Harris/Ryan Martinie is the best bassist in the world'' they're very good. but that's it.

- Nice playing, do you have the tab to that song?
- No, I don't really use tabs. I can write you a chords chart on the go if you want.
- Dude I play bass I don't play chords.
(I look at my drummer and we both walk away, slowly, backwards, facing him with frightened looks :P)

""The E and the A string is all a bass player should need to do the job properly,If you want to play fancy stuff on the skinny strings then you should be playing lead guitar.I also have another standard bass that I have pulled the d and g strings off the guitar but it has no impact live like this beast.""

i think i might have the worst......it was said by a guitard, not another bass player....and i qoute-

"Playing bass is just an excuse for being bad at guitar, anyways a bass is just like a crappy guitar that's missing two strings"

-by the way...I set next to this moron in 2 of my classes.

Yes, Quite scary, I'd probably find an easier transition to more strings, opposed to 2.
Besides, I could potentially injure myself or put someones eye(s) out with that thing.

One false move on stage and Blammo, lights out b****.

I think the "Alien dude" on the right (not the left) Is cooler 'cause at least he has 4 strings
